BRIDGE PROGRAM: Building Responsibility for the Delivery of Government Services
BRIDGE is a USAID-funded development program in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap, Unity, Upper Nile, South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Abyei Area. USAID expects that this program will be an actual bridge from humanitarian relief managed by international organizations to sustainable development that empowers local government and communities to manage resources and solve their own problems.
BRIDGE is a three-year development program with an overall objective of supporting the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) by strengthening the capacities of state and local government to decentralize and deliver basic services, provide immediate tangible peace dividends and increase economic opportunities. At the end of the three years, local authorities and communities should more effectively manage their resources to meet their own needs. USAID has allocated funding to the BRIDGE program based on its analysis of the problems facing state and local governments and communities.
Winrock International is implementing the program in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap and Unity with offices in Juba, Aweil, Kuajok and Bentui
